These steely grey powerful kettles
with their black and white striped heads
are exceedingly houseproud. Quiet
and efficient they have been known
to play a tune on the hob but generally
they settle in one place away from latrines
guaranteeing an un-contaminated cuppa.
By law you must never disturb kettles
but we have a contractual duty to say
that you may be forced to protect them
from the boiling mad out for a quick cull.
