The Spell

Eunoia Review

All along, you were touching the other world
as if it were only a painted veil
separating rooms.
The crickets would jump
through the quiet fractals
which the light spilled over the garden
and their wings would blossom,
their dark eyes would glow.
As in a dream, the circumference would stretch
until the borders were indiscernible
and everything bled into the luminous wood.
Animals, fragrances, mythic beings
would pass beside you,
brushing your troubled life.
You would give everything
and receive more than what
was given.
The gift was boundless,
conjured out of nature
like a shining word.
