Rebecca Warren
is an academic historian and author. Growing up in the deeply wooded countryside of the weald of Sussex, she spent much of her childhood observing, absorbing and drawing the natural world around her, moved and inspired by the twin themes of natural history and the historic landscape. Outside her academic career, she has recently illustrated and co-authored a book on the close observation of seasonal change: ‘Nature’s Calendar: the British Year in 72 Seasons’ (Granta, 2023). She has been writing poetry since childhood, in a bid to capture something of the poignancy of being human in a beautiful and fragile world.
