R Ash Wednesday

Why use Yorkshire dialect? To me it is the most honest and straightforward way of using language. The turns of phrase can be poetic in themselves. Dialect in any form has muscle and image to me, including Scottish, Cornish, and others. My South Yorkshire dialect has a lot of words of Norse derivation stemming from when this place had a Norse ruler.

The idea of using ash to make a cross on your forehead.

This is heavily disputed by online Christian sites.
